A Project Portfolio Server client access license (CAL) gives a user the right to access the services of Project Portfolio Server through its Web client, Project Portfolio Web Access. This device CAL authorizes one computer to access the services of Project Portfolio Server, regardless of the number of users (for example, a shared workstation).

User CALs are also available. A user CAL authorizes a user to access the services of Project Portfolio Server from any device (for example, when an employee accesses the server from a computer at work and another at home).

Note: This license does not require media.

Groove 2007 is a collaboration software application that allows team members to collaborate by sharing files, participating in online meetings, and using collaboration tools in a shared workspace. Within a workspace, teams can outline plans interactively, jointly design projects, distribute support materials for analysis, and share ideas by voice or text chat. A copy of the shared workspace is installed on every team member’s hard drive and is synchronized as changes are made. If a member working offline makes a change, the change is queued and synchronized to other workspace members when the member comes back online. Team members can work for different organizations, work remotely, or work offline and resynchronize when they are back online.

For centralized management and control of Groove 2007, an organization can install Groove Server 2007. When Groove 2007 is deployed without Groove Server, new accounts are automatically provisioned to a Microsoft-hosted version of Groove Server’s Groove Relay component for communication over the Internet and management of synchronization. Project Portfolio Server 2007 is a top-down portfolio management serverthat helps enterprise and medium-sized organisations realize theirpotential by identifying, selecting, managing, and deliveringportfolios of projects, programmes, and software applications(collectively known as investments) that align with their strategy.

Project Portfolio Server includes the following modules, any of which can be disabled if not needed:

• Portfolio Builder: Collects all an organisation’s investments as a means of making them visible to executives all in one repository. Forms and templates can be created to streamline collection of data and metrics. In addition, workflows can be designed to help ensure that projects are subject to the appropriate governance controls.
• Portfolio Optimizer: Helps organisations implement a rational instead of emotional approach to prioritization and selection of investments.
• Portfolio Dashboard: Provides organisations with better visibility, insight, and control across all approved investments and allows them to be monitored and controlled throughout their life cycles.

The server is accessed through its Web client, Project Portfolio Web Access.

This product can be used independently or integrated with Project Server 2007 and Project Professional 2007as the Microsoft Enterprise Project Management (EPM) solution. The EPMsolution is suited for organizations that need strong coordination andstandardisation between projects and project managers, centralizedresource management, or higher-level reporting for projects andresources. Expression Web 3 is a web-design application. Beginning users can use its task panes and menus to build web pages without knowing any markup or server code. More advanced creative professionals can build websites that fully support web standards such as Extensible Hypertext Markup Language (XHTML), cascading style sheets (CSS), Extensible Markup Language (XML), and Extensible Stylesheet Language Transformations (XSLT). Expression Web 3 includes full versions of Expression Design 3 and Expression Encoder 3.

·Expression Design 3, previously sold separately, is a graphic design tool that can be used to create and edit vector-based graphics, bitmap-based graphics, and hybrid documents including vector and bitmap elements.

·Expression Encoder 3 simplifies publishing video to Microsoft's Silverlight browser plug-in. Expression Encoder can encode a wide array of video file formats, stream live from webcams and camcorders, and capture PC screens. Expression Web 3 includes tools and support for PHP, ASP.NET, and AJAX. It also allows Adobe Photoshop files to be imported with layer control and updates to be reimported with retained settings. Expression Web supports the accessibility standards of WCAG and Section 508 (29 U.S.C. 794d) and includes built-in accessibility checkers for verifying websites against these requirements.
