OneNote2010 is a note-taking software application that can help workerscapture,organize, and reuse information across their organization. They cangather andstore many types of content, such as typed documents, hand-drawnsketches, andaudio clips. All of this content can be custom-indexed — bynames, dates,departments, priority, or other criteria. OneNote information can thenbecomethe basis of other projects — from reports to speeches— and can be sharedamong team members.

The2010 version adds the Fluent user interface, which simplifiesnavigation byreplacing menus and toolbars with a set of task-based tabs known as theRibbon.The Ribbon's new Filetab displaysMicrosoft Office Backstage view, which provides users with commonlyaccessedcommands when opening or finishing a document and groups togetherrelatedtasks.

OneNoteallows users to create multiple notebooks and add an unlimited numberofsections, pages, and subpages to each. Users can have multiplenotebooks openat once and search all notebooks simultaneously. OneNote automaticallysavesand indexes content as it's added to a notebook.

OneNotecan be docked on one side of the screen to allow users to take noteswhileusing other programs. The Linked Notes feature allows users to takenotes inWord, PowerPoint, or Internet Explorer and provides a link to thelocationwhere a note was taken in a source document. Content can also be senttoOneNote from virtually any program through the Send to OneNote virtualprinter.

Sharednotebooks, stored on a network file server, enable multiple people towork inthe same notebook at the same time, or at different times, fromdifferentlocations. Integration with the free OneNote Web App, one of the newMicrosoftOffice Web Apps, extends collaboration by giving notebook access tousers overany web browser. When multiple users are working on a shared notebook,automatic highlighting notifies users of any changes since they lastopened thenotebook. A version history of notebook pages allows unwanted changescan berolled back.

32-Bit and x64Versions: Theinstallation media for this product include two sets of DVDs and can beusedfor either 32-bit or x64 systems.

Important VolumeLicensing Information: With Office 2010 suites andapplications,organizations can choose between two types of volume license keys forproductactivation: a Key Management Service (KMS) license key or a MultipleActivationKey (MAK). Organizations will be provided with both types of keys ontheMicrosoft Volume Licensing website.

Microsoftrecommends KMS activation only for organizations with at least 50networkedcomputers requiring activation for any combination of Office 2010suites andapplications, including Project 2010 and Visio 2010. Organizations withfewerthan 50 computers requiring activation or organizations withnon-networkedcomputers should activate their products using a MAK. also offersinstructionson howto use a MAK or KMS key to activate volume editions of Office 2010.
