Publisher is a desktop publishing program that allows people with basic layoutskills tocreate a wide variety of publications for desktop printing, commercialprinting, email distribution, or viewing on the web. An array of newandimproved tools help users efficiently create, customize, and reusematerialsthat are tailored to an organization's specific needs.

Inthe 2010 version, the Ribbon, which was introduced in Office 2007 andreplacedtraditional menus and toolbars with a set of task-based tabs, can becustomizedto suit the user's needs. The Ribbon's new Filetab displays Microsoft Office Backstage view, which provides users withcommonly accessed commands when opening or finishing a document andgroupstogether related tasks.

Otherchanges include more efficient printing, new object alignmenttechnology, newphoto placement and manipulation tools, building blocks of content, andfinetypography options.

Publisherincludes a library of hundreds of customizable design templates orblank publications,including newsletters, brochures, flyers, postcards, websites, andemailformats. More templates are available on the web and can be searchedfor fromwithin the application.

TheDesign Checker identifies common design errors in commercial print,web, andemail publications prior to distributing or printing. Support forcommercialprinting includes four-color process printing, spot color, andpress-ready PDFfiles.

CatalogMerge facilitates the production of frequently updated materials suchas datasheets,catalogs, and price lists by merging text and images from a database.

32-Bit and x64Versions: Theinstallation media for this product include two sets of DVDs and can beusedfor either 32-bit or x64 systems.

Important VolumeLicensing Information: With Office 2010 suites andapplications,organizations can choose between two types of volume license keys forproductactivation: a Key Management Service (KMS) license key or a MultipleActivationKey (MAK). Organizations will be provided with both types of keys ontheMicrosoft Volume Licensing website.

Microsoftrecommends KMS activation only for organizations with at least 50networkedcomputers requiring activation for any combination of Office 2010suites andapplications, including Project 2010 and Visio 2010. Organizations withfewerthan 50 computers requiring activation or organizations withnon-networkedcomputers should activate their products using a MAK. also offersinstructionson howto use a MAK or KMS key to activate volume editions of Office 2010.
