Outlook2010 is a time and information manager that integrates email, calendar,contacts, and tasks. The 2010 version can also receive voicemails,faxes, andRSS (Really Simple Syndication) feeds in its inbox.
Inthe 2010 version, the Ribbon, which was introduced in Office 2007 andreplacedtraditional menus and toolbars with a set of task-based tabs, isavailablethroughout Outlook and can be customized to suit the user's needs. TheRibbon'snew Filetab displays MicrosoftOffice Backstage view, which provides users with commonly accessedcommandswhen opening or finishing a document and groups together related tasks.
Otherimprovements are user-defined Quick Steps, which can carry out severalactionson an email with one click; expansion of Instant Search to RSS feeds;theability to create and save groups of calendars for frequently scheduledmeetings; conversation view, which organizes mail into groups ofrelatedmessages; and Social Connector, which can update contact information ofpeoplein users' social networks and also list scheduled meetings, messages,andattachments from the contacts.
Somefeatures are available only when Outlook is used with Exchange Server,whichmust be obtained separately.
32-Bit and x64Versions: Theinstallation media for this product include two sets of DVDs and can beusedfor either 32-bit or x64 systems.
Important VolumeLicensing Information: With Office 2010 suites andapplications,organizations can choose between two types of volume license keys forproductactivation: a Key Management Service (KMS) license key or a MultipleActivationKey (MAK). Organizations will be provided with both types of keys ontheMicrosoft Volume Licensing website.
Microsoftrecommends KMS activation only for organizations with at least 50networkedcomputers requiring activation for any combination of Office 2010suites andapplications, including Project 2010 and Visio 2010. Organizations withfewerthan 50 computers requiring activation or organizations withnon-networkedcomputers should activate their products using a MAK. also offersinstructionson howto use a MAK or KMS key to activate volume editions of Office 2010.
