Office Communications Server Device CAL - Standard (Includes Software Assurance)
- Under the Software Assurance programme, customers acquire the right to install any new release of products covered in the agreement during the term of their coverage.
This standard device client access license (CAL) authorizes one computer to access Office Communications Server or Live Communications Server regardless of the number of users (for example, on a shared workstation).
- This standard CAL supports the instant message and presence capabilities of Office Communications Server 2007. For conferencing and voice and call management, an enterprise CAL is required.
- Live Communications Server 2005 does not have separate standard and enterprise CALs; only the one license is needed.
For web conferencing, voice over IP, and application sharing capabilities, an enterprise device CAL is required. Enterprise CALs are additive and must be used in conjunction with standard CALs.
User CALs and an external connector (EC) license are also available. A user CAL authorizes one user to access Communications Server from any device (for example, when an employee accesses the server from a computer at work and another at home). The EC license allows any number of external users or devices to access a single installation of Communications Server.
Note: This license does not require media.
