Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.0 protects networked laptops, desktops, and servers ("endpoints") against viruses, worms, Trojan horses, spyware, adware, rootkits, and threats not seen before ("zero-day attacks"). It consists of client software that runs on the endpoints and management software that runs on a server.
Symantec Endpoint Protection combines technologies from previous Symantec products in a new interface:
The management software uses a single console to manage all the endpoints in an organization. Software and policy updates can be sent to all the organisation's computers and servers, and their activities and statuses can be monitored centrally. Reports are available in Web-based graphical form.
Rather than having several "agents" installed for the various functions, Endpoint Protection uses a single agent for all of them and thereby uses less memory and disk space on each endpoint.

Symantec estimates download times will range from about 45 minutes for T1 connections to 9 1/4 hours for 128-Kbps connections.
